No connection in Morocco

Paper-cut collage of a traveller holding a phone up for signal beside a signal tower on a Moroccan street.

The short answer

Start with the phone, not the eSIM: check that the eSIM line is switched on and set for mobile data, turn on data roaming if the plan is regional, and restart the phone. Nine times out of ten one of those three is the whole problem. If there is still nothing after ten minutes, write to the store with your order link.

Checked on September 30, 2026

No data after landing is almost always a setting, and almost always one of three. Work through them in order before assuming the worst.

The three checks

  1. The line is on. iPhone: Settings, Mobile Service, the Morocco line switch. Android: Settings, Network and internet, SIMs, the line switch.
  2. The line carries the data. Mobile data must be set to the eSIM, not to your home SIM.
  3. The roaming setting matches the plan. On a regional plan, data roaming must be on for the eSIM line. On a local plan it is not needed; if you turned it on, no harm done.

Then restart the phone. It re-registers on the network and most problems die there.

If it is coverage, not the phone

Morocco’s cities hold strong 4G and 5G. The desert south of the Atlas, the High Atlas valleys and remote stretches of the Rif are thinner, and desert camps run on Wi-Fi that comes and goes. That is geography, not a fault: download offline maps before those legs, and the eSIM reconnects at the next town.

When to write to support

If the checks are done, the phone is in a covered place, and there is still nothing after ten minutes, write to contact@baobabsim.com with your order link, the phone model and screenshots of the mobile settings. If the eSIM cannot be made to work, the refund promise applies.

Questions

The eSIM is on but nothing loads. What first?

Three checks, in order: is the eSIM line set for mobile data, is it switched on, and does the plan need data roaming (regional plans do). Restart the phone after the checks; it finds the network again from scratch.

I am in the desert and the signal is gone

That is coverage, not a fault: the Sahara and remote High Atlas valleys have thin signal, and desert camps run on patchy Wi-Fi. Download offline maps before those legs; the eSIM picks up again at the next town.

It worked yesterday and stopped. Why?

Check the data counter first: a plan's data can run out before its days do. Then check the phone has not switched the data line back to your home SIM. If neither, restart and watch for the network name.

When should I write to support?

After the three checks and a restart, if there is still no connection after about ten minutes in a place with known coverage. Write to contact@baobabsim.com with your order link, phone model and screenshots of the mobile settings.
