Agadir
- Atlantic beach
- Taghazout surf
- Winter sun

The short answer
Agadir is Morocco's beach city: a wide Atlantic bay, a long promenade, and the mildest winter weather in the country thanks to the cold Canary Current offshore. An eSIM keeps the phone online for surf reports, ride-hailing and the coast road to Taghazout, as a Moroccan line on a local plan.

Agadir is a resort city rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake and laid out for the sea: a crescent bay, a promenade with cafes, and a working port at one end. Its trick is the water: the cold Canary Current offshore keeps the temperature range among the smallest in the country, which is why northern Europe winters here.
Getting there and around
Agadir is served by Al Massira airport and by road from Marrakech, about three hours. The city itself is flat and walkable along the promenade; taxis and ride-hailing cover the souk and the kasbah hill. The coast road north to Taghazout is the scenic drive.
What to see
- The beach and promenade: the whole point of Agadir; the bay curves for kilometres and the water is cold by Mediterranean standards.
- The kasbah: the hill above the bay, with the ruins of the old fortress and the best view of the new city.
- Souk El Had: one of the largest markets in Morocco, everyday goods included.
- Taghazout and Paradise Valley: surf to the north, a gorge to the east, both under an hour.
Practical notes
- Getting there: Al Massira airport, or the road from Marrakech.
- Getting around: on foot along the bay, taxis for the rest.
- Paying: cards in hotels and restaurants, cash at the souk and for beach services.
- When to go: any month; winter for sun, summer for the beach and the wind, shoulder seasons for both.

When is Agadir warmest?
It barely swings: daily highs run from about 21 degrees in January to 27 in August, which is why the city sells winter sun. The trade wind that keeps it comfortable also makes the mornings and evenings breezy.
Is the surf really next door?
Yes: Taghazout and the Anchor Point area are about thirty minutes up the coast, with breaks for every level and schools in the village. Surf reports and the road there both want data, which is where the eSIM earns its keep.
What is there beyond the beach?
The kasbah hill above the bay with the view, the Souk El Had for the real market experience, and the Souss valley day trips toward Taroudant. Paradise Valley is the other classic, a mountain gorge an hour inland.
