Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN) is Morocco’s main airport, the one most long-haul flights land at, and the doorway to the country’s biggest city. It is a large, modern terminal with everything a traveller needs, arranged in a straightforward line from gate to exit.
Getting online at CMN
Phone shops: the airport lists shops for Maroc Telecom, inwi and Orange, selling prepaid SIMs that are registered to your passport on the spot. Around 20 dirhams including 20 dirhams of credit is the standard opening price.
An eSIM instead: on the phone before you fly. Switch it on when you land and it is done: the QR code came from the order page, the store emailed the link, and the phone connects as a Moroccan line on a local plan. The plans page has the options.
Getting into the city
The airport has its own railway station; trains run to Casablanca’s main stations during the day, and the ride takes under an hour. Taxis and ride-hailing run from outside arrivals, where agreeing the fare first is the local custom. If your trip starts with a train to Marrakech or Tangier, this is also the station to do it from.
Practical notes
- Weather: Casablanca is mild year-round by Moroccan standards, with ocean air and winter rain; a light jacket works most months.
- Money: the airport’s exchange desks and ATMs handle the first dirhams; the dirham is a closed currency, so there is nothing to buy at home.
- Signal: the city is covered by all three networks, 5G included since 7 November 2025.
- The city: the Hassan II Mosque, the old medina and the tram are the short version. The Casablanca page takes it further.
