The short answer

Maroc Telecom is Morocco's largest mobile network, and its legal name, Itissalat Al-Maghrib, is why its website is iam.ma. It sells prepaid SIM cards and eSIMs in its shops, and it launched 5G in the main cities on 7 November 2025. The plans sold through this site do not run on Maroc Telecom: the local plans are lines on Orange Maroc.

Maroc Telecom at a glance

It launched 5G with the other networks on 7 November 2025, starting with the main cities.

  • Prepaid SIMs to your passport

Its SIMs and eSIMs are registered to the buyer's identity, with a passport for visitors.

Maroc Telecom is the largest of Morocco’s three mobile networks. Its legal name is Itissalat Al-Maghrib, which is why every document and shop sign points to iam.ma, and it has the deepest network of the three, cities and countryside alike.

If your phone shows Maroc Telecom

Check which plan you bought. The local plans on this site run on Orange Maroc, so on a local plan the phone shows Orange Maroc when all is well; a regional plan connects through a partner network in each African country, and the name on the screen is whoever the plan is partnered with there. If data is working, the plan is working: no action is needed beyond the roaming switch a regional plan uses.

Buying a Maroc Telecom SIM instead

A prepaid SIM costs 20 dirhams including 20 dirhams of credit, and its data passes start at 10 dirhams for 1 GB over 3 days (the March 2026 catalogue). The line is registered to your identity, and visitors use their passport. Maroc Telecom also sells eSIMs in its shops. Both routes mean a counter visit; the eSIM bought online before you fly does not.
